The Hiden HPR-20 R&D specialist gas analysis system is a bench-top mass spectrometer for real time gas analysis of evolved gases and vapours.
The HPR-20 R&D is offered with a wide range of interfaces for connection to thermal equipment and is configured with Hiden’s heated Quartz Inert Capillary (QIC) for continuous sampling of gases and vapours.

HPR-20 EGA massaspektrometri
HPR-20 EGA – A compact bench-top gas analysis system for evolved gas analysis in thermogravimetric mass spectrometry, TGA-MS
The Hiden HPR-20 EGA gas analysis system is configured for continuous analysis of evolved gases and vapours from thermogravimetric analysers, TGA.
The HPR-20 EGA system includes EGAsoft PC software, an application specific software program designed for TGA-MS, including data export in formats to suit direct import of MS data into the TGA equipment software.
The Hiden HPR-20 EGA is a bench top mass spectrometer with QIC (quartz inert capillary) that samples from 100 mbar to 2 bar gauge and is included as standard.
The HPR-20 EGA system includes an external dry scroll pump to provide for high performance combined sample bypass and UHV foreline pumping, providing fast response and effective pumping for light gases.
Effective pumping for light gases enables the use of helium as the carrier gas for TGA-MS studies without compromise to sample flow and response. The benefit of using helium as a carrier gas of choice for TGA-MS studies is the reduced mass spectral interference with helium, compared to nitrogen or argon for example.
The HPR-20 EGA system has mass range 200 amu (300 amu option) and with a detection capability from 100% to less than 100 part-per-billion.
An extensive range of MS inlets for optimised coupling the HPR-20 EGA mass spectrometer to TGA systems is offered to suit an existing TGA, or OEM partner TGA equipment.
The TGA interface includes re-entrant furnace sampling, providing close coupling to the TGA furnace region for optimized evolved gas/vapour analysis.

HPR-20 TMS – A specalist gas analysis system for fast event transient analysis
The Hiden HPR-20 TMS Transient MS is configured for fast event gas analysis of gases and vapours at pressures near atmosphere. Ideal for fast gas switching experiments the MS features the Hiden QIC quartz-lined 0.9 m sampling interface.
The inlet, operating at 200 °C, provides response times of less than 150 ms to changes in gas composition with a 5 decade response time in < 200 ms.
The QIC inlet is coupled directly to Hiden’s Pulse Ion Counting (PIC) digital MS which is capable of measurement speeds of up to 500 data points/s over the entire 7 decade dynamic range.

HPR-40 DMES – Solutions for Dissolved Gas Analysis and Off-gas Analysis in Electrochemistry
The Hiden HPR-40 DEMS is a bench top or mobile cart mounted module for analysis of dissolved species in electrochemistry. The system is modular and adaptable. The system includes two differential electrochemical mass spectrometry ‘DEMS’ cell inlets, designed for material/ catalysis studies, cell type A, and electrochemical reaction studies, cell type B.
Differential Electrochemical Mass Spectrometry (DEMS) is an analytical technique that combines electrochemical half-cell experimentation with mass spectrometry. It allows in situ mass resolved determination of gaseous or volatile electrochemical reactants, reaction intermediates and products in real time. Hiden Analytical offer a range of DEMS cells with electrolyte/nanoporous sampling interface to the Hiden HPR-40 DSA Mass Spectrometer.
For applications where online electrochemical MS, OEMS, from an existing cell or reactor is required, a range of standard inlet options is available offering both evolved off-gas and dissolved species analysis solutions. pQA Portable Quadrupole Analyser – Designed for analysis of dissolved gases in water, and sediments for use in the field at the riverbank, on boats and in mobile laboratories.
The Hiden pQA portable gas analyser is a versatile mass spectrometer and offered with a range of interchangeable sampling inlets to suit a broad application range. MIMS inlets are offered for analysis of dissolved species in ground water, sediments, fermentation cultures, soil samples, and general applications where analysis of dissolved species in liquid sample is required. The system is suited to gas analysis applications, where sample volume is small, and for environmental applications where detection of low concentration levels is required.
The system offers the facility for analysis to sub-ppb (parts per billion) levels and is suited to gas analysis applications where sample volume is small and for environmental applications where detection of a low concentration level is required. Both dissolved species probe inlets and circular membrane carrier inlets are available to address a broad range of applications. The inlet probe uses a special membrane that allows small levels of the dissolved species to pass through it and into the ion source of a high precision quadrupole mass spectrometer.
A manual isolation valve allows for control of the sampling and a solenoid safety valve provides protection for the mass spectrometer and vacuum system in case of membrane failure.
The pQA system has a mass range of 200 amu and sub ppb detection levels. Extended mass range to 300amu is optional.
The system is supplied in a Pelican® case and can be powered by a 12 V supply for field use, battery and/or solar powered, or a 220 V supply for laboratory use.

HPR-60 MBMS – A system for analysis of neutrals, radicals and ions
The Hiden HPR-60 molecular beam mass spectrometer is a compact skimmer inlet MS for the analysis of atmospheric plasma and reactive gas phase intermediates.
Radicals are sampled via a multistage differentially pumped skimmer inlet and transferred to the MS ion source with minimal interaction with other species and without wall collisions. Customisable inlets allow connection to many different reactor systems, including atmospheric plasmas.
The skimmer system, combined with a Hiden triple filter precision mass spectrometer, offers a sampling system with ultra fast response and high accuracy.

HPR-70 – A system for discrete low volume sample analysis
The Hiden HPR-70 compact bench-top batch inlet gas analysis system is suitable for the analysis of discrete gas samples.
A small quantity of gas, usually at or close to atmospheric pressure, is sampled using an automated batch inlet. After expansion and consequent pressure drop the gas is analysed using a high sensitivity 500 amu quadrupole mass spectrometer.
Most minor components in the gas mixture can be measured at levels of 5 ppm or above.

HPR-90 – A sealed package gas analyser with integral package cracker for lamp gas analysis
TThe HPR-90 automated package cracking analysis system is a complete system optimized to analyse gas within sealed volumes such as light bulbs.
The HPR-90 system can be custom configured to suit small automobile bulbs through to fluorescent tubes.
This system comprises a piercing unit, UHV manifold and sampling system, a triple filter quadrupole mass spectrometer and all associated control equipment on a mobile cart.
The HPR-90 system package cracker chamber is available in a range of sizes, custom configured to accommodate the package size, and provide minimum dead volume/surface area for optimum sensitivity for analyses of fill gases and fill gas contaminants. One package cracker chamber, customised to accommodate a tubular style sealed package, is included as standard. The Hiden LAS system is designed to analyze the leak rate from sealed packages, from a quality control or research and development perspective.
A variety of fill gases and impurities can be analyzed.
The automated system provides a pass/fail analysis based on the specified leak rate minimum.
The Hiden Leak Analysis System is automated for simple use in quality control or R&D environments and is designed for analysing the leak tightness of small to medium size sealed packages such as micro gas cylinders and portable battery assemblies.
Using the speed and sensitivity of mass spectrometry, Hiden is able to provide a fast and effective solution for analyzing sealed packages such as Lithium ion batteries and determining leak rates and production quality. A wide range of fill gases, tracer gases or volatile electrolyte species can be analyzed, including typical fill gases such as helium, argon, carbon dioxide and impurities such as water vapour. Together with Hiden’s dedicated software, the system is easy to use and provides an automated pass/fail analysis based on the specified leak rate minimum. The software can be customised for the particular application.
